Our heritage

Founded as a family enterprise by Mumbai and Surat based Agarwal family, Shubhalakshmi Group began trading in fabrics and yarns in 1979 as partnership firm. The Group started its first manufacturing facility for crimp yarn in Daman, Union Territory, India in the year 1989 followed by a manufacturing plant of POY with a total project cost of Rs. 37.6 Crores in February, 2005 under the name of Shubhlaxmi Petrochemicals, a partnership firm. The partnership was then converted into Public Limited Company in September, 2005 in the name of Shubhalakshmi Polyesters Limited ("SPL"). All the Manufacturing Units of the Group were merged into Shubhalakshmi Polyesters Limited in 2006.

The Agarwal family identified a trend that has continued increasing industrial demand for man-made yarns. At present SPL have five units which are located in Daman and Silvassa for the manufacturing of POY and FDY.

In addition to finished yarn production, SPL produces POY and FDY, raw materials of texturised yarns. Other group companies produce dye intermediates and calcium carbonate. Shubhalakshmi Group has been aggressive in pursuing backward integration from time to time. The Company is in process to install Continuous Polycondensation Plant (CPP) with a capacity of 2,16,000 metric tonnes of PET Chips and POY / FDY. The CP Plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of calender year 2012. From FY 2007 to FY 2011, the revenue of the Company has grown from Rs.91 Crores to Rs.485 Crores.
